Frequently Asked Questions
Find the answers to your functional medicine questions.
At our clinic, we take a functional medicine approach that looks beyond symptoms to uncover the root causes of health concerns. By combining advanced testing with a deep understanding of your lifestyle, nutrition, and environment, we create personalized plans that support your body’s natural ability to restore balance. Our goal is simple—to help you feel your best, regain lasting energy, and live a life of genuine wellness.
Our integrative medicine model blends the personalized insight of functional medicine with the proven science of allopathic care. We work alongside your current medical providers to ensure a unified, comprehensive plan that addresses both the root causes and symptoms of your health concerns. This approach allows us to combine the best of both worlds—advanced diagnostics, lifestyle medicine, and evidence-based treatments—to help you achieve lasting wellness and balance.
In the traditional medical model, a primary care provider (PCP) performs annual wellness care such as physical exams, Pap smears, breast exams, and routine preventive screenings. We encourage all patients to maintain a relationship with a PCP they see at least once a year for this type of care.
At Anna Gunderson Integrative Medicine (AGIM), our role is different and complementary. We see you more frequently and focus on in-depth, ongoing care—monitoring biomarkers, addressing root causes of symptoms, optimizing metabolic and hormonal health, and managing medications. We can continue to prescribe medications that are necessary for your health if these are not managed specialists such as rheumatologists, neurologists, or cardiologists.
We also support coordination of care. When helpful, we can provide summaries or letters to your PCP to assist with annual visits and ensure clear communication across your care team.
Our goal is to work alongside your primary care provider and specialists to give you more personalized, comprehensive care—not to replace them.

To avoid our no-show fees, please cancel an appointment at least 24 business hours prior to your appointment. The no-show fees for cancelling less than 24 business hours before or not showing up for an appointment are: $150 for new patient appointments and $100 for all other provider appointment types.
We recommend starting with our MSQ (Medical Symptoms Questionnaire) calculator, which can help guide you toward the level of care that best fits your needs
You should consider the Complete Care plan if:
- If you have a MSQ score of 35 or greater
- You are taking more than two prescription medications
- You have had more than two medical diagnoses in your lifetime
- You feel your health has significantly changed in the past few years
- You want more in-depth evaluation, frequent follow-up, and ongoing support
You should consider the Maintenance Care plan if:
- If you score 35 or less on MSQ
- If you are primarily focused on health optimization
- Have stable biomarkers but want to ensure they remain there
- Would like Anna to manage your Hormone Replacement Therapy
- Are not ready to commit to more comprehensive care plan
If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you decide—choosing the right plan ensures you receive the level of care and support that best matches your goals. Please schedule a Discovery Call if you have additional questions.
Yes, we are credentialed to work with all ages. If you feel your child would benefit from our services, please schedule a Discovery Call. We take pediatric patients on a case-by-case basis. If a parent is a member of AGIM, children can join for a reduced rate that is dependent on which plan child joins and if in-network or out-of network.
Yes. We are fully licensed medical providers and can prescribe medications and order laboratory tests and imaging studies—including X-rays, MRIs, and other diagnostic studies—just like any traditional medical practice.
Anna and Emily are licensed to provide these services in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. All orders are placed when clinically appropriate and coordinated with your overall care plan.
Our goal is to ensure you have access to comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment while taking an integrative, whole-person approach to your care.
AGIM does not provide acute or emergency care. We are not an urgent care clinic and are not available during off hours. For time-sensitive concerns such as coughs, colds, injuries, or any urgent or emergent symptoms, we recommend seeking care at a local urgent care or emergency department.
That said, we do encourage you to let us know anytime you see another provider—for any reason, including acute care visits. While we do not manage urgent conditions, we are always happy to support you afterward by offering an integrative perspective, helping with recovery, prevention, and overall health optimization.
When you need to be seen quickly, urgent care or the ER is the safest and most appropriate option. Our role is to complement—not replace—those services.
Anna Gunderson and Emily Schneidewind are licensed to practice in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Utah. If you are not a resident of any of these states, we cannot provide you care. We appreciate your understanding.
