Anna Gunderson
PA-C, IFMCP
I began my career as a Physician Assistant 14 years ago after graduating from the Idaho State University PA program. I eagerly started practicing family medicine at Teton Valley Health, where I developed a deep appreciation for working with patients through a whole-system approach.
As my career progressed, I began noticing gaps where traditional medicine sometimes fell short. Conditions like fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual disorders, migraines, metabolic issues, and longevity concerns often lacked effective or sustainable treatment options. Too often, I saw that the solutions we had available could create new problems if used long-term.
My own health journey mirrored that realization. I had lived most of my life with irritable bowel syndrome and still considered myself “healthy.” But deep down, I knew there had to be a better way. That personal experience along with feeling helpless with some of my patients, motivated me to expand my training and complete certification with the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Blending functional and allopathic medicine transformed not only how I practiced, but how I felt. By addressing root causes, optimizing nutrition, and balancing hormones, I discovered I could have more energy and focus in my 40s than I ever had in my 20s.
During my time at Teton Valley Health, I was able to begin incorporating functional medicine principles into patient care. I saw firsthand the profound difference it made when we had the time and space to dig deeper into lab work, biomarkers, and lifestyle patterns. But I also realized that the traditional clinic model simply couldn’t support the level of individualized attention I wanted to give each patient.
When my sister—an exceptional RN—decided to pursue her own functional medicine training, everything came together. With her shared passion and expertise, I knew it was time to build something new. Together, we’ve created a clinic dedicated to meaningful, lasting care—focused on helping people truly thrive, not just “get by.”

Emily Schneidewind
BSN, RN, FMCP, RYT
With nearly 25 years of nursing experience, I’ve dedicated my career to caring for patients in large academic hospitals, specializing in intensive care, cardiovascular surgery, case management, and heart transplantation coordination. My experience in case management gave me valuable insight into helping people translate medical recommendations into realistic, sustainable health changes within the context of their home, work, and family life. During my time as a heart transplant coordinator, I worked closely with a multidisciplinary team to help grow the program into one of the largest heart transplant centers in the country—an achievement made even more meaningful as we navigated the challenges of COVID-19. These years gave me not only deep clinical expertise but also a profound respect for the resilience of the human body and spirit.
After decades immersed in hospital medicine, I felt called to pause and reimagine my role in healthcare. My own health journey—marked by challenges with mental health, disordered eating, and chronic inflammation—revealed the limitations of our current medical model and inspired me to explore a more holistic and functional approach to healing.
Through years of self-study, reflection, and lifestyle change, I experienced firsthand the power of nutrition, movement, mindfulness, and nervous system work. This personal transformation led me to pursue functional medicine as the next step in my professional journey.
Yoga and mind-body practices have played a central role in my healing. I am a 200-hour certified vinyasa yoga teacher with additional trauma informed nervous system and restorative training through Yoga Medicine. These modalities have taught me the importance of slowing down, listening inward, and creating space for the body to restore itself.
Today, I combine my background in traditional medicine with a deep belief in the body’s ability to heal when given the right support. My approach is friendly, open, and honest—rooted in curiosity, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others discover what’s possible for their health and well-being.
When my sister Anna shared that she was opening her own functional medicine practice and invited me to join, I was thrilled. It’s an honor to work alongside her, combining our shared passion for holistic, patient-centered care to help others heal and thrive.
